UVA (University of Virginia) Graduation Weekend

What an unbelievable weekend! Even with expanded dining hours and both the Tavern and Dining room being seated to the max- we filled our dinner reservations two weeks in advance (Already have filled the dining room for 2013!). We had a full staff on hand, and enjoyed a very smooth (but tiring of course) evening. Congratulations to this weeks grads. Earlier this month we honored (and decorated for) James Madison Univ- This weekend, UVA and next weekend we conclude May’s tributes with Blue Ridge School- Go Barons!

Mothers Day

We enjoyed another sold out event- Mothers Day Champagne Brunch. The omelet station opened at 10am with 25-30 other guest selection. Throughout the day, items were exchanged bringing more of a lunch fare…but the custom omelets kept coming. A special thanks to our (now annual) Chef Trevor for his assistance. Kaye’s decorations provided the added touch to make this a perfect day. Thanks all “Mom’s” for making this day worthwhile.

The 7th Annual Discover Virginia wine festival is just down the street on route 33 in Ruckersville. This is a great, small intimate festival- one where you can “belly up to the bar” and taste the wines, talk with the booth friends and enjoy some music…up close and personal!

The Lafayette Inn & Restaurant’s poppin!…Another Chef Tasting couple…”We thoroughly enjoyed the chefs tasting. The gourmet menu and wine choices were a wonderful surprise and the restaurant is a romantic step back in time. We plan to return again and again”- Jean & Phil

Easter Sunday Brunch- Stanardsville, Virginia

For the 8th year in a row- we enjoyed a full house for our Easter Sunday Brunch. Just a little more than we week prior- seemed like we would have a light crowd, only to have the phone and e-mail open up with reservations. Breakfast items obviously kept the focus in the morning, only to be largely replaced by Rosemary Chicken, Virginia Apple Cider Pork in the afternoon. Nestled between- about 20 other salads, platters and delicious treats! Chef Trevor’s “Made to order” omelets remain a staple- Guest Sous Chefs, Ji and Ben, kept the Shrimp and Grits and Crepes flowing and everyone knows of Kaye’s delightful dessert selections (with “Peeps” tucked in for added Easter atmosphere!). “A good time was had by all…”

We had another excellent weekend at the Restaurant and Inn- A special thanks to this weeks “Guest Sous Chefs”- Ji & Ben. We spent the weekend in the kitchen learning how to prepare quick and elegant meals at home- then trained for a busy night helping out at the restaurant. Ben has become a Shrimp and Grits expert- only matched by Ji’s ability to product delicious and beautiful Berry Crepes for our Easter Sunday Brunch!

We are now part of their employee and corporate benefits program- whereby large companies provide their employees (or clients) generic gift certificates and they can redeem with any partner- Those that want- vineyards, history, Skyline Drive, OpenTable “Diners Choice” restaurant, Wine Enthuisast award winning wine list, Best of the Blue Ridge Inn…they can select us! :)
